Acid reflux, also known as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), is a common digestive disorder characterized by the backflow of stomach acid into the esophagus, causing symptoms such as heartburn, regurgitation, chest pain, and difficulty swallowing. While occasional acid reflux is normal, persistent or severe symptoms can significantly impact quality of life and require medical intervention.
